Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and second leading cause of cancer-related death in West Virginia women. Breast cancer screening for women ages 40 - 64 (as well as those under age 40 with symptoms or at high risk for breast cancer and those over 64 who do not have Medicare Part B) is recommended every one or two years depending on your risk factors. No woman should die of cervical cancer when 93% of cervical cancers can be prevented through vaccination and screening. Women should be screened for cervical cancer between the ages of 21 - 64. Those over 64 who do not have Medicare Part B and are at high risk for cervical cancer.
