The West Virginia Prevention Research Center (WVPRC) welcomes all individuals, academic faculty, and staff, interested in chronic disease prevention and intervention in WV and Appalachia to join the WV PRC as an Affiliate member. We believe strongly in the power of partnerships and we welcome the additional collaborations that can be provided through active and engaged partnerships.

The mission of the WVPRC is to transform WV public health policy and practice through community-engaged research. The WV PRC is one of 37 Prevention Research Centers funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The WV PRC aims to 1.) Expand community engagement and support for Community Based Practice Research; 2.) Foster, conduct and translate innovative community-driven prevention research and evaluation; 3.) Provide training to enrich the public health workforce; 4.) Provide leadership and guidance in applied evidence-based health policy and practice; and 5.) Maintain and expand WV PRC infrastructure and resources.
WVPRC Faculty and Staff Affiliation is open to any individual holding a faculty or staff appointment in an academic organization. If you are a public health or clinic practictioner or a community member looking to get involved with the WVPRC, we have a Community Partnership Board that receives nominations, please see below for more information.

As a WV PRC Affiliate the PRC will provide:

1. Expertise in community engagement in research, chronic disease prevention and database management.

2. The introduction of your interests and expertise to our academic, state, and community networks for potential collaborations.

3. The promotion of your research through CDC reporting and PRC promotional venues as well as PRCs across the country who have similar interests.

4. Communications and dissemination consultation and support.


Affiliates may be asked to:

1. Share your expertise and collaborate with colleagues and other PRC faculty and staff affiliates, the PRC Community Partnership Board members, and other partners.

2. Help promote the WVPRC in priority research areas.

3. Provide occasional requested information, such as biographical sketches, resumes/CVs, publications/presentation lists, and responses to brief surveys.

4. Participate, to the extent possible, in WVPRC meetings and/or conference calls.
